St. Anthony's RC Church, Rutherglen
Women's Guild
The Guild started in St. Anthony’s School Hall in 1965. The first president was Mrs Margaret Lawrie R.I.P. of Cathkin. Five years later, the church hall housed the Guild from then to the present time.

The Guild, from the beginning, was for mothers of small children, to give them some social time away from the family. The members also assisted the parish priest with church, cleaning or making teas at important functions. They held hostess nights and gave the funds raised to two different charities. The main funds raised from week to week went to the parish priest to help with parish funds.

Over these 43 years, the Guild members in numbers have went from approximately 60 to the present time of only 13 member. The ladies are mostly 75 to 80 years plus, and although they are no longer able to participate in much activity, their enthusiasm to fund raising is excellent.

The Guild term starts August with enrolment and a syllabus is made up to June. Our President is Mrs. Jean McGrevey, and Jean and the ladies would be delighted if any ladies would care to join us every Wednesday from the 4th August 2008 at 8pm in the church hall.

Hope to see you there.

                         Yours in Fellowship
