Women's Guild
The Guild started in St. Anthony’s School Hall in 1965. The first president was Mrs Margaret Lawrie R.I.P. of Cathkin. Five years later, the church hall housed the Guild.
The Guild, from the beginning, was for mothers of small children, to give them some social time away from the family. The members also assisted the parish priest with church, cleaning or making teas at important functions. They held hostess nights and gave the funds raised to two different charities. The main funds raised from week to week went to the parish priest to help with parish funds.
Sadly, interest in this group has ceased and the Guild no longer meets due to falling numbers. If you are interested in re establishing this very worthwhile group, please contact Canon Allison with your details.
